Browser screen resolution problem

i am having issues with a site i am building regarding the template and resolutions, when viewed on my screen 1280×1024 the site appears ok but when viewed on a wide screen monitor or even a iphone or android the background of the site pushes to the left and overlaps the center container. i have been pulling my hair out for nearly a week with this any help would be greatly appreciated..
