I don’t think you are missing anything. Its all coming down, atleast as far as i am concerned, to one’s choice at the end of the day. Majority of that pro/ent stuff are already in community but have only been extended in those commercial versions. Plus there is the benefit of talking directly to magento folks for support and things. If you can pay, i think its a bonus!

Still though, i believe community version is enough and as u said, there are already of extensions out there to extend it to the level you want.
