Fresh install and updated design

We have just launched our upgraded site http://www.octanesport.com .

Simply put our old site was getting a bit flakey, so we created a fresh install with a new host, who claimed to be Magento specialists, only to find our hosting fee ‘hoiked’ up as soon as we populated it with products….(800 or so)…. so we switched to another host, who are proving to be exceedingly helpful.

The whole idea of the fresh start was to keep a similar look and feel to the old site, but with a few design tweaks.. not enough to scare people off at first sight to returning customers. Its amazing how quickly you forget the old design.

Features we have added are:
Shipping Estimates on product pages.
Simple one page checkout, with careful regard to usability, ie BIG checkout buttons.
A live chat feature (exceeding useful for an online only store IMHO)
We really liked the mobile site extension we use, this autodetects mobile devices and re-skins the site beautifully utilising Iphone browsing features.

Currently fettling a few foibles.. but fresh site has seen sales go up. So I’m happy.
