inventory feed from different vendors

Hello,
I receive a feed (flat file) from several vendors with their inventory on hand, along with pricing, descriptions, UPC codes and other product details. Since a handful of vendors sell the same products it is difficult to keep track of inventory on my current site and not create duplicate entries for the same product. What I currently do in excel is a vloopup based on UPC code so the quantities get added up from both vendors and then I create a new csv file and then upload it to my site.
As you can imagine this is a time consuming system.
I am curious if Magento has a feature where I can upload a flat file from a vendor to my site, and then I can map fields.
I’m not even sure that this is the best solution so any advise would help.
My site is not currently on magento, but I’d love to switch over since this seems to be the best shopping cart software I’ve seen to date. I’ve used other open source in the past but they don’t compare. I’d be looking to start with the free version to begin with and possibly upgrading down the line.
