Missing Admin Area

Well, from what I can gather, the support offered on the Magento forum is fairly non-existent so this is my last stop before I bin it and move on to a different solution.

Installed Magento circa a month ago with no issues (to speak of). Managed to set up categories and a few products for testing purposes but have since been pretty busy with work so not touched it in a few weeks.

Came back to it today and for some reason cannot access the admin area – at all – as in it will not even get there, just get the oops 404 error!

Have tried various url options …east.com/store/admin …east.com/store/admin/ …east.com/store/index.php/admin and so on and so forth

Can anyone offer up any advice on what might be the issue? I can post server log if you like.
