Reciprocal related or cross sells?

Please be patient as I am a new Magento user and keep encountering problems or questions that I am sure there are answers to!
Is there any way of creating reciprocal cross sells or related products? in other words when you create a cross sell or a related product to something instead of having to go to the other product you have ‘related’ it to and have to create the related product the other way round ( I hope I am making sense!)
Any ideas?
