Solid 1.1.x to 1.4.1.1 Upgrade Strategy
by Dx3Webs (Posted Thu, 14 Oct 2010 15:54:48 GMT)
We have just about given up on using the updater and generally do something like:
* Make a copy of the database site on dev server.
* Remove extensions.
* Create a clean install of 1.4.1.1
* Copy over media and local.xml
* Start bug fix till working
* Put compatable extensions back on.
* Apply all the bug fixes to the modern theme… seriously does not one test this?
So far so good. We have yet to have to resort to a complete export / import. Particularly because most shop owners to not want to lose their order information.
thanks
Andy
