Upgrade from 1.4.1.1 –> 1.6 problems…

Go back to basics..

on working live database.. run reindex from shell to make sure there are no hidden integrity type errors
dump all waste data.. docs.nexcess.net/magento-database-maintenance
repair database from phpmyadmin
make sure compilation is off
prevent any connection from any ip other than you.
check all permissions
run upgrade from ssh – blog.nexcess.net/2011/03/11/upgrading-to-magento-1-5-0-1/
correct permissions
do a complete ftp overwrite of the version you want to use
call url…
